Consider the complexities of applying to college — grappling with finances, negotiating the SATs, preparing for interviews. For youth who are first in their families to attend college, support systems that ease the way and promise success just aren't there. So FGCB provides the crucial support and guidance that low- and middle-income students need to get into college and succeed. Homework Clubs operated from subsidized housing sites provide learning interventions and academic support to students at all grade levels. The College Access program helps students climb the academic ladder, supporting 450 middle school students, 180 high schoolers, and over 1,000 college students as they navigate academic requirements and admissions, apply for financial aid, enroll and stay in school, and graduate on time. An extraordinary 84% of FGCB alums hold bachelor's degrees and, of these, more than 15% earn advanced degrees.
