FRIDAY, APRIL 29
5:30 PM — For just $20, enjoy a delicious meal of soup and bread in handcrafted bowls donated by local artists. And support Food for Others with its mission of helping the hungry of Northern VA. Stop by Giving Circle to learn more.
7:30 PM — The Dwelling Place hosts its annual event, Carnival of Chocolate, at the VisArts Center in Rockville. Expect plenty of chocolate, plus a live and silent auction. All tickets (with discounts for kids!) are available on the Dwelling Place website.
SATURDAY, APRIL 30
7:00 AM — Today marks the 28th Annual Rebuilding Day, which unites thousands of volunteers to work on the homes of DC’s low income residents. You can find the nearest rebuilding site RIGHT HERE and join with Rebuilding Together of Washington, DC.
8:30 AM — Attention runners: the inaugural Fairfax CASA Run for the Children 10K Race & 3K Run/Walk will be held in historic Fairfax City. Sign up here!
2:00 PM — Catch Bowen McCauley Dance‘s centerpiece performance at the Move Me! Arts Experience Festival at Kenmore Middle School in Arlington.
8:00 PM — At Dance Place, master storyteller Lyena Strelkoff performs “Caterpillar Soup,” a one-woman play about her true-life odyssey following a spinal cord injury. (Also playing on Sunday at 7:00 PM!)
SUNDAY, MAY 1
7:30 AM — Celebrate the River Center Opening Day with the Potomac Conservancy, including outdoor activities, concerts, nature walks, cleanups, and bird watching. At 9:00 AM, take a walk in search of both common and unusual spring wildflower and learn some flower folklore.
1:00 PM — Enjoy an afternoon of music presented by the amazing young chamber ensemble musicians of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Tickets are available in advance and at the door.
3:00 PM — Celebrate the first day of May and the finale of the Washington Bach Consort Season with themes of rebirth and renewal, drawing from four distinct areas of Bach’s genius. Tickets for the Easter Oratio are available here.
