Proud home of iconic monuments and buildings, DC houses even more “hidden” sites, from historic homes and embassies to intimate galleries. An advocate for the importance of local culture in the health and development of our city, CTDC is a coalition of more than 230 arts, heritage, and community organizations in one of the most walkable cities in the nation. The Neighborhood Heritage Trails lead residents and visitors through the stories of countless blocks, from Old Anacostia to Pleasant Plains; the award-winning African American Heritage Trail features over 200 sites citywide; and a month-long celebration of the city’s international culture, Passport DC, opens 69 embassies and numerous festivals to nearly 185,000 people. WalkingTown DC and BikingTown DC offer 192 tours by foot and bike, often through less-visited areas in Near Northeast and East of the River. All year CTDC works closely with its members to promote visibility, build capacity, and showcase programs. This city is home to so many voices and stories – let’s be sure they are heard and seen.
