Home to a Conservative synagogue, an African Methodist Episcopal church and, now, a modern community center, Sixth & I Historic Synagogue has a rich history. Since 2004, it has redefined the concept of the community gathering space with entertaining and thought-provoking programs spanning Jewish and other cultural traditions, while also playing host to an array of authors, musicians, politicians, comedians, filmmakers, journalists, actors, and chefs. Al Gore, Malcolm Gladwell, Sheryl Sandberg, Lewis Black, Idina Menzel: the list goes on. While Sixth & I welcomes all ages and backgrounds, it focuses on building a community of young people who are figuring out what matters to them and who they want to be. In 2017 alone, over 50,000 people attended more than 108 events in this historic space – honoring the past and enlivening the future. With your support, the beat goes on.
Over the past six months, Sixth & I has produced over 250 virtual programs for over 50,000 viewers – author and book talks, concerts, social events, and holiday celebrations. Virtual programming has dramatically expanded its reach, adding 5,000 new contacts and program viewers in all 50 states.
