General Information

  • Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: Volunteers are needed to assist teaching artists at our classes. We are looking for individuals who have a love of children and an interest in the arts (being an artist is NOT required - just the desire to help & learn & have fun!).

Project Create classes meet once a week for 10 to 15 weeks a semester (fall & spring) and 6 weeks in the summer. Each class meets for 1-2 hours, either at our Anacostia studio or at program sites around the city (primarily East of the River). Classes are held Monday through Friday nights. We ask that volunteers commit to attending a class (specific date/time/location) for the entire semester and preferably the whole school year.

This year, we are adding field trip volunteers to our volunteer opportunities. We are seeking individuals that are interested in coordinating field trips, as well as those who are interested in chaperoning field trips for our students. Field trips occur primarily on the weekends (Saturdays). Transportation is provided for students, parents and chaperones (either metro or private bus).

We are also seeking volunteer Board Members and administrators!
  • Types of Volunteers Needed: individual/adult; adult groups of less than 5; adult groups of 6 or more, including corporate teams
  • Hours Needed: business hours during the week; evenings during the week; daytime on the weekend
