General Information

  • Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: Volunteers are vital to Kid Power's work and instrumental in providing a safe and secure connection for our students. Kid Power offers a variety of opportunities for volunteers to get involved in our life-changing work. Volunteers provide exposure to new ideas and experiences, help youth with tangible skills, and build confidence.

Tutoring Volunteer: Provide tutoring three days a week. Community tutors engage in activities to promote the social and emotional connection to student participants to increase the power of the mentor relationship.

Literacy Tutor: Provide reading, fluency, and comprehension support using leveled texts paired with research-based phonics, comprehension, and writing instruction.

Mentor: Provide at least a one-year commitment, with 5-8 hours of communication each month. Mentors conduct weekly phone communication with protégés and monthly in-person meetings. Our mentors empower youth to achieve their dreams and change their communities by supporting them in reaching academic, career, civic engagement, and personal development goals.

VeggieTime Volunteer: Support Kid Power's health and wellness programming through volunteering and coordinating school-based and community fresh produce markets and school site garden maintenance. The program reaches over 1,400 students.
