Many people struggle to find help during a mental health crisis, but for someone living in poverty the barriers to treatment can seem insurmountable. So Aspire Counseling takes its services into the community, offering mental health care at low or no cost. Targeting Montgomery County’s uninsured and underinsured residents, Aspire helps them navigate life’s challenges, whether they are facing grief, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Every year, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies helps more than 160 uninsured women overcome prenatal and postpartum depression through in-home therapy sessions. A partnership with Mobile Medical Care brings mental health services into primary care clinics (reaching over 2,000 low-income patients a year). And the Positive Aging program places therapists at senior centers and in subsidized housing communities where they annually offer on-site counseling to more than 140 seniors struggling with depression. Aspire restores hope to so many. You can join them.
