Daytime CASA Volunteer Training

Court Appointed Special Advocates/Prince George's County

Want to stand up for abused and neglected children in foster care? To become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) you must attend preservice training to learn how you can work with a child or youth in foster care and advocate in their best interest to have a positive and long-lasting impact. If you are free during daytime hours or if you have flexibility at work to take 6 days off this July, then this Pre-Service training is for you! We are looking for individuals who are ready to make the commitment to advocating for a youth in foster care. We will provide the free training, you bring the commitment to being an advocate for one youth in need. Once you have successfully completed our screening and training, we will match you with a child in Prince George's County Foster Care. CASAs make a minimum one year commitment to advocating for their assigned child or youth. Volunteers spend about 10-15 hours each month meeting with their youth and communicating with other parties related to the child's case. Applicants must be 21 or older by the time training is completed. Applications must be received by June 11th to be considered for Summer Training to ensure enough time for interviews and pre-screening. Lunch will be served at each training. During courtroom observation, attendees will be responsible for their own lunch.
