College Bound targets underserved 8th-12th grade public school students who have the drive and desire to attend college. Students meet weekly, one-on-one, with mentors who assist them in math, SAT prep, and college admissions, with the goal of improving the District's historically low test scores and college-attendance rate. Mentors explore scholarship opportunities and help students navigate the application process. College Bound sponsors career and college fairs and takes students on college tours. It also offers over $125,000 annually in scholarships and a Virtual Mentoring Program (VMP) to help students navigate college life. For the last four years, it has graduated 100% of its seniors from high school and maintained a 100% college acceptance rate. Over the last two years, its VMP helped 88% of first year students return to college for their second year (second and third year return rates are a phenomenal 100%). With six community-based locations throughout the city, and international study tours offering educational enrichment, College Bound is making college completion a reality for DCís young people. And what a difference that makes.
