General Information

  • Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: Volunteer at Washington English Center from the comfort of your home!

Washington English Center is a non-profit, community-based organization that trains volunteer teachers and tutors to provide high-quality educational services, access to technology, and life-skills programs to all adult immigrants in the Washington metropolitan area (and now that we are virtual, worldwide) regardless of ability to pay.

While students attend class multiple times a week, WEC asks our volunteers to commit to only one day a week for 1- 3 hours during each 11-week term. We provide teachers with a course syllabus, a textbook, and use a unique co-teaching method to provide new volunteers with the support they need throughout the semester.

Washington English Center is currently recruiting volunteer English teachers and one-on-one tutors for our upcoming winter term. The term begins the week of April 12th (and runs through June 25th). No teaching experience necessary, just a desire to learn! We accept volunteers on an ongoing basis. If interested, please apply here.

Registration is also open and available here to prospective students who want to learn and improve their English. We offer scholarships to any student in need!

For more information about our programs please visit www.washingtonenglish.org/volunteers/ or contact our Volunteer Manager, Yaritza Abrego at yabrego@washingtonenglish.org.

WEC looks forward to hearing from you!
