Mercy Health Clinic cares for those who have nowhere else to go. Removing the barriers of cost and language, it provides a safety net for poor and uninsured residents of Montgomery County. Medical exams, lab tests, x-rays, medications, chronic disease management, and more – all are available along with nearly a dozen specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, psychiatry, and more. Health education programs focus on preventative care and assist patients in managing chronic diseases. The clinic accomplishes its work with the support of numerous partners (universities, hospitals, labs) and volunteers (physicians, nurses, scribes, interpreters) who provide their time and expertise. The result? In a community where access to decent healthcare is a serious problem for the poor and uninsured, Mercy’s high-quality care and services put people back in control of their health. It deserves your caring support.
Mercy Health Clinic pivoted to telemedicine to continue providing much needed healthcare to the low-income patients it serves free of charge. About 30% of its 2,000 patients suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, which must be monitored to keep them healthy and out of hospitals swamped with COVID emergencies. In addition, the patient population is over-represented in the number of COVID cases. Currently 40% of visits are with patients who have COVID or symptoms consistent with it. It’s a tough challenge to which the clinic is determined to rise.
