Each year, 130 youth from under-resourced communities experience life-changing adventures – and build resiliency, broaden their horizons, and learn skills that will ensure success. They begin their journey in 6th grade, and progress as a cohort through seven years of activities and challenges. In the summer, they head to Broken Arrow Ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, for overnight camping trips, mountain climbing, and white-water kayaking – which double as lessons in self-confidence, self-respect, and teamwork. During the year, day and weekend excursions acquaint students with our region’s natural wonders, from the Potomac River to the Allegheny Mountains. For middle schoolers, an after-school program offers tutoring, environmental education, and art classes, while the High School & Alumni Program provides job and leadership training, mentoring, outdoor education, job placement assistance, and help with post-secondary plans. Keeping our youth involved and engaged is vital; your engagement brings so much to these kids.
