The cost of living in metro DC is among the highest in the nation, placing immense strain on low-income families – particularly when temporary unemployment, an unexpected illness, or a financial crisis strikes. Since 1975, Arlington Thrive has been the only nonprofit to provide same-day emergency financial assistance to residents of the county who cannot pay for their basic needs: rent, utilities, medical bills, prescription costs, work-related transportation, and other emergencies. It works in collaboration with government and private agencies and relies on them to assess true need and to provide case management for clients. The result? No duplication of services, and 88 cents on the dollar going directly to financial assistance. With three full-time staff and 15 volunteers, Arlington Thrive annually serves approximately 3,000 clients. Your donation keeps countless families warm, safe, and at home, where they belong.
Thrive has expanded its number of community partners to 29 and deepened relationships with existing partners. With an expanded team of two full-time and five part-time case managers, and three additional social work interns, it is reaching out to hard-to-reach populations and persons on the margins – during a crisis that has disproportionately impacted them. Thrive also released its first-ever statement on racial equity and justice in response to the murder of George Floyd, outlining its commitment and efforts to address these critical issues.
