Believing that all students should have access to fresh, healthy food, RFFK collaborates with schools in Greater Washington to elevate school menus and build a culture of health that spreads into students’ homes and communities. The Lunch Room Collective, comprised of school stakeholders representing 630,000 students, works systemically to change the way we feed students – from creating welcoming lunch room environments, to combating the stigma around cafeteria meals. A professional development program trains food service staff to craft healthier fare; workshops teach parents to champion wellness initiatives in their communities; and annual food events encourage students and teachers (many from Title I schools) to explore new foods and develop healthier habits. Across Fairfax County Public Schools, RFFK has already helped increase fresh foods, eliminate soda, and remove 91% of artificial ingredients. Your support truly nourishes young bodies and minds.
