Each year, CAFY serves approximately 1,400 individuals affected by crime or trauma in Prince George’s County. For many, the moments immediately following are overwhelming, frightening, and isolating. CAFY acts as a “social services emergency room,” stepping in at the most critical time to provide support, guidance, and a voice when it matters most. CAFY answers urgent questions: “What do I do now?”, “Where can I go for help?”, and “When will I feel safe?” Licensed therapists provide mental health care to help process trauma; advocates secure safe shelter, food, and clothing; and attorneys offer legal representation for protective orders, custody, and other critical matters. Services are available 24/7 in English, Spanish, ASL, and additional languages through the CAFY Helpline. CAFY transforms lives—helping victims move from fear and uncertainty to safety, healing, and justice.
