The Art League has a simple philosophy: nurture the artist and you enrich the entire community. For seasoned artists and curious newcomers alike, it provides accessible exhibit space and classes (online and in-studio) in virtually all visual arts disciplines – from ceramics to jewelry to mixed media. In collaboration with the court system, it also offers an arts-based mentoring program, Space of her Own (SOHO), for creatively-inclined fifth grade girls who have a relative in jail or on probation (one of the strongest indicators that a child will later become court-involved). A partnership with Fort Belvoir Military Base connects injured military personnel with visual arts experiences designed to redevelop fine motor skills while offering opportunities for socializing, personal enrichment, and catharsis. Need-based scholarships are available for students of all ages and backgrounds. With your support, arts in Alexandria will always have a home.
