The House, Inc. helps kids figure out who they are and where they want to go. Life and interests don’t always match a school schedule, so they offer experiences during out-of-school time including gaining a Certificate in Leadership through the EmpowerMEnt® Leadership Institute. The HANGRY Truck, a mobile food market and street kitchen, is their student-led community help project. This anti-hunger protest is designed to address real community problems and brings food assistance and hot meals to food insecure children and families in neighborhoods overlooked by traditional systems impacted by long-standing inequalities. The House also equips kids with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in higher education, in their chosen careers, and in life. The approach is comprehensive: academic enrichment, leadership development, mentorship, service learning, workforce readiness, college access, and health programs help each child reach his or her full potential.
