The needs are great and the Prince George's Child Resource Center seeks resourcefully to meet them, offering a wide variety of services that strengthen child care programs, assist working families, and help nurture home environments where children can really thrive. Its Family Support Center is the hub, where culturally competent, family-friendly programs are provided: child development and family literacy, parenting and health education, job readiness and employment skills. All services are free, including on-site child care and door-to-door transportation; Spanish and French are spoken where needed. In the Healthy Families program, the focus is positive parenting for the most at-risk, first-time parents, and the goal is to reduce child abuse and neglect. In addition to providing professional development to over 1,000 child care providers each year, the Resource Center offers training and onsite mentoring support to inner-beltway providers serving low-income children. The first organization in Prince George's County to be awarded the Standards for Excellence accreditation by Maryland Association of Nonprofits, the Resource Center reaches out to families all over Prince George's County: won't you reach back?
