The needs are great and PGCRC seeks to meet them. Its Family Support Center is the hub, where culturally-competent, family-friendly programs are provided: child development and family literacy, parenting and health education, job readiness and employment skills. All services are free, including on-site child care and door-to-door transportation. Spanish and French are spoken where needed and staff serving the refugee community speak Dari/Farsi. Healthy Families focuses on positive parenting for first-time parents with the goal of reducing child abuse and neglect. Project Win helps identify children with special needs in child care programs. In addition to providing professional development to over 1,000 child care providers each year, the Resource Center offers training and on-site mentoring support to inner-beltway providers serving low-income children. PGCRC reaches out to families in Prince George’s County and beyond: won’t you reach back?
