Stroke Comeback Center offers affordable, long term support programs (in-person and online) for stroke and brain trauma survivors, regardless of ability to pay. Weekly therapeutic classes support all aspects of recovery and well-being: communication, cognition, fitness, music, and social connection. As a member-driven organization, the needs, interests, and recommendations of members help to form the foundation for class offerings such as the recently launched THRIVE program: fitness, art, and music classes designed to help stroke and brain trauma survivors live full and active lives. Last year, SCC held 336 classes, provided 13,806 service hours, welcomed 45 new members and their families into their community, and awarded more than $61,000 in financial aid. The only community-based organization of this kind in the Greater Washington DC area, SCC includes survivors of all physical and communication levels, post onset of stroke or brain injury.
