For over a half century, Community Ministries has served Montgomery County’s most vulnerable residents, constantly adapting as needs evolve. Today, five distinct programs form a network of holistic care. A health clinic provides quality healthcare and health education to medically underserved adults. During a financial crisis, any client can walk down the hall to the financial assistance program to get help with prescription costs, prevent utility shut-offs or eviction, and receive referrals to other social services. A language outreach program brings English literacy and citizenship classes to adults, along with childcare and tutoring for their children. Elderly and disabled clients receive weekly in-home care and assistance with home repairs, while a housing program provides transitional shelter for homeless men and women, along with case management and life skills development. True to its name, this place embodies community – and it welcomes new friends.
