Gifts that Give Hope (Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5533 North 16th St., Arlington)

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, a dozen nonprofits will provide a unique, stress-free holiday shopping experience. Looking for a good holiday gift? Consider making a contribution in honor of a family member of friend. Half of the participating nonprofits hail from Catalogue network: Arlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs, A-SPAN (Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network), Borromeo Housing, Inc., Doorways For Women and Families, Homeless Children’s Playtime Project, and Just Neighbors.

Anacostia Watershed Society (Bladen Woods Condos, 5208 Newton Street, Bladensburg, MD)

Join a neighborhood clean-up near the Quincy Run tributary on Saturday at 8:00 AM; all supplies and instructions will be provided on site!

Friends of Fort Dupont Ice Arena (Ely Place SE, Washington, DC)

Don’t miss the 1950s Rock n Roll Holiday Show and Young Artists Showcase Finals on Saturday at 11:30 AM, featuring guest performances from Olympic ice dancers and up-and-coming international skaters.

Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture (7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo, MD)

Start the holiday season at Glen Echo Park’s Winter’s Eve festival on Saturday at 6:00 PM: performances, sing-along, open studios, and hot chocolate bar, plus be fine artworks at the Holiday Art Show and holiday crafts.

National Philharmonic (Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, MD)

On Saturday at 8:00 PM and Sunday at 3:00 PM, usher in the holidays with Handel’s 1741 masterpiece, the most-performed and beloved work in all of Western choral music, The Messiah; tickets right here.

Joy of Motion (Jack Guidone Theater & Atlas Performing Arts Center)

Super busy weekend at JOMDC! On Saturday at 8:00 PM & Sunday at 7:00 PM, the resident adult ballet will present three world premieres, two classical ballets, and selected works from the company’s repertory in the Classical Repertory Dance Theatre Fall Concert at the Jack Guidone Theater. And on Sunday, the Fall Youth Company Concert (SOLD OUT) and the Youth Dance Ensemble Concert will jazz up the Atlas right in a row, at 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Tickets for all right here.
