Jazz Conversations with Jazz Vocalist Rene Marie with DC Jazz Fest (at THEARC Theater, 1901 Mississippi Avenue SE)

For music students and music lovers, this 60-minute session on Friday at 10:30 AM will explore the amazing contribution of jazz vocalists to American history and culture. Recommended for middle and high school students; register right here.

The Snowy Day at Adventure Theatre (Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo)

The simple tale of a boy waking up to discover that snow has fallen during the night is brought to life in this magical world premiere. Most performances this weekend are sold out, but tickets are still available online for Friday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 11:00 AM.

Free Tango Practica at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (545 7th Street SE)

Tango dancers of all levels have an opportunity to practice, collaborate, and learn in a collective space on Friday at 7:00 PM; free and open to all ages.

Valentine Pops Gala & Silent Auction with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, McLean)

Featuring a silent auction & dinner on Friday at 8:00 PM followed by a pops concert performed by a live orchestra, the 2012 Gala will benefit the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and its educational outreach programs.

Brian Ganz Chopin Project at National Philharmonic (The Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda)

Continuing his quest to perform all of Fryderyk Chopin’s works over the next decade, pianist Brian Ganz will explore the theme of dances and fantasies in his second Chopin recital at Strathmore on Saturday at 8:00 PM; tickets right here!

Wacky and Whimsical Tea with Building Bridges Across the River @ THEARC (Four Seasons Hotel Georgetown, 2800 Pennsylvania Ave NW)

A fun-filled afternoon, Sunday at 2:00 PM, will include high tea, a silent auction, and creative games for kids of all ages and their families, including magic tricks and hat decorating; all of the proceeds from the event will benefit the THEARC. (Now sold out)
