Volunteer Fest @ Volunteer Fairfax (10530 Page Ave, Fairfax, VA)

A region-wide day of community service held in conjunction with National Make a Difference Day, Volunteer Fest mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to help nonprofits accomplish tasks that they would not have the time or resources to do on their own. Check it out on Saturday at from 9:00-4:00.

Fall Frenzy @ DC SCORES! (at Kelly Miller Middle School, 301 49th Street NE)

Do swing by for this celebration of the DC SCORES fall season filled with soccer games, relays and arts and crafts, and other activities on Saturday from 10:00-2:00.

Plant Native Wildflowers at Roundtree Park w/ Earth Sangha (at Roundtree Park, 3311 Annandale Road, Falls Church, VA)

Join volunteers from the USC Alumni Association and from St. Matthews United Methodist Church to remove invasive vines and shrubs and make way for a planting of native shrubs and wildflowers on Saturday from 10:00-2:00. Learn more here.

ARTdays hosts the Kids Euro Festival – Finland and Free Drumming Circle @ Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (545 7th Street SE)

CHAW hosts “Off to Lapland” from Finland as part of the Kids Euro Festival. On Saturday from 10:30-1:00, puppet performer Juha from Finland takes the audience to Finnish Lapland where yoik music and mountains and the adventure is ready. And from 4:00-5:00, CHAW hosts a free community drumming circle: grab your bongos, bells, and tambourines and shake the house.

This fun and meaningful event on Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 will feature tastings from local restaurants, live musical entertainment, and auction and raffle prizes — all benefitting FACETS’ work to open doors for individuals who suffer the effects of poverty. You can buy tickets online.

Masterworks Concert #2 @ Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (at George Mason University’s Center for the Arts, Mason Pond Drive, Fairfax, VA)
