NO TAXES….on back to school supplies this weekend (8/1 – 8/3) in Virginia! Help students in need get ready for school by adding an extra item to your cart — whether online or in-store — or find an opportunity to help sort & pack up donated supplies so backpacks are full and ready for the first day of school!
Our Daily Bread – Fairfax: For the fourth year, ODB is collaborating with Kids R First, Fairfax County Public Schools, the Fairfax County Office of Public-Private Partnerships and a variety of local non-profit organizations to provide supplies for 2,000 qualified needy children who attend schools in the Fairfax High School and JEB Stuart High School pyramids. In 2013, ODB assisted 1,500 children in those schools. Due to overwhelming demand, the organization is looking to increase the program’s capacity this year in hopes of assisting even more students who are in great need of school supply assistance. Make a donation online, or join ODB Fairfax to pack up all these supplies, August 12 -14!

Good Shepherd Housing: GSH provides an alternative to the homeless shelter for people denied housing in their own name due to bad credit or a poor rental history. Kids living in GSH apartments shouldn’t miss out on educational, social and recreational activities simply because their families have low-incomes, so GSH provides school supplies and holiday gifts, and pay for after school activities and summer camps.
